Welcome to experiences in the Aquarium in Drøbak!
With entrance from the Tourist Information at Molo A in Båthavna in Drøbak, you can walk into a world the kids love. Here you can study fish and marine animals and plants up close. And with the catfish Hugo still in good shape after several years in the aquarium. Round, large pools full of fish are exciting experiences for both children and adults. See how the big flounder camouflage themselves to the bottom!
In the pools, the environment from Drøbaksundet has been recreated in a credible way. Here you can see the big fish such as sharks, saithe, cod, pike, ling, catfish and flounder. The medium-sized species such as blue steel, gilthead seabream, whiting and squid live side by side with primate fish such as skate and stingray. Small fish such as seaweed, eyeballs and sandeels live on their own in small aquariums where they are not eaten by the large ones.
At the bottom live crabs, lobsters, hermit crabs, snails, sea urchins, sea urchins and starfish. Beautiful sea anemones sway in the stream of water that is sent into the aquariums directly from a depth of 40 meters. Drøbaksundet is one of Southern Norway's best fishing spots. The nutrient-rich water that swells up due to the bottom and current conditions provides a good diet for all the creatures that live in the aquarium.
Drøbak aquarium was opened in 1995. The aquarium was built on a voluntary basis by enthusiasts in Drøbak Båtforening, and is now transferred to a foundation that is responsible for the operation. During the year, around 35.000 people visit the aquarium. This makes Drøbak Akvarium the most visited attraction of this type in the whole of Akershus. All species are described by name and key information. A touch pool for the little ones creates closeness to the fascinating life on the shore, under the pier and at the great depths of Drøbaksundet.
